In our ‘Wellness Conversations‘ series, we engage with creatives to discuss their personal experiences, insights, and approaches to well-being. Our inaugural conversation features Sanchita LaMore, the London-based founder of HAFH, a curated travel platform that guides travelers toward purposeful and personal experiences. With a focus on storytelling and intentional discovery, HAFH carefully crafts product edits, an exclusive boutique hotel guide, and captivating stories that showcase the people behind the places, with a primary focus on North America. Alongside her work at HAFH, Sanchita also lends her creative skills to assist with Art Direction at Amalg.

In this conversation, we delve into Sanchita’s definition of wellness and explore the daily rituals and practices she employs to maintain balance in her life. We also discuss the challenges of staying committed to well-being while traveling and the strategies she uses to stay motivated during difficult times.

What does wellness mean to you?

Wellness is achieving a balance between physical and emotional health. It encompasses a variety of practices and habits, which by no means need to be expensive or restrictive, but they contribute to feeling good in one’s skin. It sounds cliché, but it is a holistic approach. It’s also about our impact on others. As we work to improve ourselves, we can show up better for the people around us. But it’s all trial and error, and for the most part, it’s intuitive.

What daily rituals or practices do you engage in to foster balance and well-being?

Rituals are essential, especially in an entrepreneurial journey where a set routine is practically nonexistent. I have established consistency in my morning routine, though, which I look forward to each day. I wake up around 6:30, exercise, have a long shower, do my hair and skin care, and have a hearty breakfast. Additionally, I jot down the three main things I hope to accomplish by the evening, which sets a clear direction for the day.

Maintaining consistent sleep patterns has also helped. While traveling can disrupt this routine, I try to stick to my schedule as closely as possible. But if I go to bed late, I don’t give myself a hard time about it. More often than not, it’s because I was having fun.

When you travel for work or leisure, do you find it challenging to maintain your daily wellness practices? If so, how do you adapt to ensure you stay committed to your well-being while away from your usual routine?

Absolutely! While I’m still refining my habits when traveling, I’ve realized 10 is my magic number. If I can squeeze in at least 10 minutes of exercise or read just 10 pages of a book each day, I consider it a success. It’s a non-negotiable goal that allows for consistency, even on hectic days. From experience, this modest starting point leads to extended workouts or more immersive reading sessions. So it’s true what they say: getting started is the hardest part.

During times when you’re facing challenges or experiencing a low mood, is there a specific quote, piece of advice, or song that helps to raise your spirits and motivate you?

‘April showers bring May flowers’. I’ve been telling myself this simple English proverb since childhood. It allows for optimism, which is necessary for growth.
